Although unexpected, ‘The 48 Hour Film Project’ is in fact a global cinematic public. Beginning in Washington D.C circa 2001, the founders fathomed if it was possible to create a short film in just 48 hours. When they realized it was possible to create a short in that amount of time (and a good one at that) their concept blew up. Now, the challenge is practiced worldwide in 130 cities. The organization functions as a NFP with countless sponsors, and has a team of producers and content creators in their HQ. You can learn more about the 48HFP here!
“The 48 Hour Film Project’s mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakersโemphasizing creativity and teamwork. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on doing instead of talking.”
The images below represent the social media campaign I decided to develop that puts a spin on the current 48HFP that exists – one with slightly different rules catered to young student filmmakers. The two coral posts are meant to be posted on the profile’s Instagram account, both with the corresponding caption below on the right. Further down the page, are two posts that will be posted to the profile’s Instagram story. My inspiration behind the campaign, the details of it, and my creative choices are all included in my artist’s statement.

This is such a cool project! Hahaha I liked when you wrote, ‘what are your plans this reading week’s. I think it’s an amazing project, especially for early beginners.
